The Monitoring Committee of Kolarctic CBC looked at the next year of the programme

Published: June 15, 2022

The Kolarctic CBC Programme’s Joint Monitoring Committee met in a hybrid model on June 9-10 in Rovaniemi and online. After more than two years of pure online meetings, a major part of the JMC members were able to meet on-site. The JMC discussed the state of play of the projects and approved the Programme level working plans until June 2023.

The Financing Agreement (FA) between the European Union and the Russian Federation is still suspended, which keeps Russia’s participation in the Programme and project implementation suspended. The Joint Monitoring Committee continues its work without Russian representation, the Russian beneficiaries do not participate in the projects, and the costs of the Russian partners are not eligible. The Programme’s Russian Branch Office in Murmansk and Arkhangelsk is closed.

The Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian partners continue to implement the Kolarctic CBC projects as far as possible without the Russian partners. Almost all projects, which were contracted before the suspension of the FA, are able to carry on their implementation, with some adjustments to their plans. All the projects will come to their end by June 2023, that is, the final year of the actual implementation of the Programme is soon starting.

Great results have been and will be achieved in the projects, and the Managing Authority will continue to focus on communicating them. As before, we ask the projects to provide the MA with information on the achievements. We are also happy to share news published by the projects on social media channels.
