Wood Industry 4.0 (WI4 KO5023)

Programme funding: 31 068 Total budget: 49 786 Duration: 01.09.2021 – 31.08.2022

The project focuses on responsible and effective forest management. The project is going to establish a new way to track wood by developing a digital system based on blockchain technology. The new tracking system will simplify the documentary verification processes in wood and forest-originated products tracing from the moment of cutting to the final product and subsequent reforestation. It will also make it more transparent and enable product certification by international standards.

The main outputs of the project are as follows:
- pre-study of the conditions and capacities of blockchain technology use in the wood industry;
- established consortium for further development of the tracking system;
- prototype for digital tracking of the wood supply chain.
